The Best (Birthday) Party Dress!

I recently celebrated my 21st birthday on June 25th. Though the actual day was spent relaxing by the pool with a bubble tea in hand, I wanted to arrange a glamorous shoot to commemorate! And when I saw THIS DRESS I couldn’t pass it up!

I saw this beautiful Aiden by Aiden Mattox dress (available ON SALE new!) at SoHo Fashion Exchange and knew I had to have it. Since SoHo is a consignment shop, occasionally pieces are altered by their previous owner. In this case, this gorg full-length gown had been hemmed, probably for someone much shorter than me, but it made the perfect midi length for me. Of course, the glittery Louboutin Glitter Pigalles also screamed to me at SoHo, and they complimented the gown so perfectly, I couldn’t pass them up. My watch is costume, but this incredible Lucian Piccard would do this outfit justice. So would this one, too, and it’s under $25. 😉

Huge thank yous to SoHo Fashion Exchange and Al Louis J Photography for making my birthday vision a reality! And whatever is the opposite of thank you, one of those to these number balloons. They are photogenic but they are a you-know-what to model in the wind. Worth it, though!

Bright Lights

I must say, I love colors and florals in the warm weather, but there is nothing more refreshing than wearing a crisp, clean, white outfit.

I wore this look out one weekend in May downtown Columbus, freshly Loving Tan-ned, and felt SO good about how I looked. I proudly stood out in the sea of skimpy black dresses. This airy, pastel peony Express blouse (similar) compliments the tight, tapered Michael Kors white denim without looking like I’m on Diddy’s guest list. The damier pattern on my LV Bosphore helps split it  up, too. The nude pumps, also from Express (similar), tie the look together in a way which could easily transition from the office to the dance floor. I think a flirty pair of sparkly pumps or sandals (like these or these) would add a fun element to these classics.

Colors of the Wind

As soon as I laid my eyes on this skirt at Soho Fashion Exchange, I knew it needed some much-deserved appreciation. It is by Alice and Olivia and you can purchase it here (or a similar A+O one here).

Though I am a color advocate every season, summertime calls for brights colors and lots of them. This skirt transitions perfectly from spring to summer: its movement is so free but its full length allows for temperatures below eighty. I wanted to highlight this perspective and toughen up its femininity by styling it with leather accessories. These Jeffrey Campbell pumps and studded, vegan leather UNIF moto jacket  keep this look in season, being white, but add a certain edge this skirt lacked. The BCBG Max Azria sleeveless blouse (similar here) and purple lenses on these Ray-Ban aviators are fun accents to keep it youthful and flirty.

What is your must-have, colorful summer essential?

Beautiful beginnings.

Welcome to my website! I am so excited to be writing this and even more excited you are READING IT!

Before even getting into my background, I would just love to thank all of the incredible, supportive, beautiful people in my life who have helped me and motivated me. I’m a strong, independent woman, but I would not be writing this if it weren’t for you. I appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.

My whole life has revolved around fashion and glamour…or so I like to think. From living in my dress up box and always wanting to wear my “pretty dress” at age 3, to being the most adorable kindergartner (thanks to my mom for that one), to logging my outfits every day of the entire school year – yes, that actually happened, and, yes, I still have the notebook to prove it. I definitely struggled with my personal style and insecurities, and still do, of course, but fashion has always been my greatest passion. I developed a deep love for makeup only within the more recent years, but I would totally wear false eyelashes daily (if it didn’t take so much time and effort).

All of my teenage years were spent thinking Columbus, Ohio stunted my creativity. Growing up in the suburbs of the city, I wanted to get as far as I could to a warmer, more fashionable arena. I didn’t follow through with this, but I find I appreciate CBus much more as I mature. It is the third city in the country for providing careers in fashion – thanks to L Brands – and its youthful, eclectic population adds a certain charm to the Midwestern metropolis.

I spent the majority of my middle and high school years as an entertainer: participating in plays, musicals, and living in the spotlight performing in and emceeing talent shows and choir concerts. An audience has always motivated and inspired me. I wanted to start blogging about five years ago for this reason, but told myself I couldn’t. I couldn’t put outfits together well enough, I couldn’t model the clothes well enough, I couldn’t dare ask someone to take pictures of me constantly. Then I realized, I could.

I had made an Instagram account showcasing my makeup in early 2015, but wasn’t very active and did not post high quality content. A close friend of mine (Lindsay), who is very popular on social media, persuaded me to start modeling casually, to look into trade-work with photographers: no one gets paid, simply receives photos for their portfolios. I started doing this for fun in May of 2016, and started taking my social media much more seriously.

Since then, I have wanted to start an official blog and ditch the eye-rollingly ridiculous “Instagram Model” title. So here it is! I will be posting my outfit details, style tips, fun videos and so much more! I am ready to start this summer on the right flip-flopped foot.
