Lounging in Brooklyn in Guilty Soles

If you follow my Instagram, you know I recently visited New York City to realize it was a place for which I didn’t expect to fall head over Guilty Soles heels. I have so much to say about (and so many outfits to share from) my first time in the beautifully hectic city, so stay tuned for that coming soon.

I am so excited to be collaborating with Guilty Soles! I kid you not, when I scrolled through their website, I had a hard time choosing just one pair of shoes. I stalked my roommate for her opinion, triple-texted my mom which was her favorite, I (literally) tossed and turned in bed weighing the pros and cons of the pairs I had narrowed down. Check out my close favorites here, here, and here. Then, I came across these beauties and I knew these were it; they’re occasion shoes, for sure, but they are perfectly feminine, sleek, sexy, with just the right amount of edge. Plus, they help me achieve my dreams of Alaia without having to file bankruptcy. I knew they deserved to touch down on the legendary streets of NYC.

Packing for New York was a sport: setting records for Most Jeans Tried On in a 10 Minute Period, Longest Distance “Oh, DEFINITELY Not” Tops Thrown Across the Room, Most Shoes Shoved into a Duffle Bag. Needless to say, I could take a lesson or two in packing light, but my excuse is now, “I’m a fashion blogger, this is my job.” Totally excusable. As soon as I tried on this floral Everly maxi dress from Thread, I knew it was love. I paired it with my Guilty Soles and readied myself for the city.

Though not the most practical for walking on the Brooklyn Bridge, I sure did feel like a total princess sitting in these gorgeous heels and dreamlike dress. Even with thousands of passersby, taxis racing directly below, and taking photos in these beautiful pieces, I felt so at ease in the moment and lost myself in exactly where I was. Lounging on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, with some of my closest friends, looking over the freshly lit skyline of New York. The crowning moment to an absolutely sublime stay.

How To DRESS For Fall

Dresses are an absolute staple: comfortable, adorable, and THIS ONE’S got pockets. They should not be limited to one or two seasons, which is why I love to dress them for the fall, too.

This adorable (on sale) Free People dress has long sleeves and is a dark color, lending itself to cooler temperatures. I paired it with these awesome $18(!) clear-heeled boots — I ordered these online from NastyGal recently and worried about them for two reasons: clear shoes are on the borderline of cute-trendy and almost-tacky to me, and I am so naturally pale I was afraid they’d blend in with my skin tone (lol), but they are SO cute and I’ve gotten compliments on them every time I’ve worn them! — and this $8 floppy hat (which also comes in black). The embroidery on the dress has just a little color, so I added another couple pops with my Ray Bans and my Victoria Emerson Boho Cuff. I am absolutely in love with this Lauren Ralph Lauren bag…it isn’t one I would normally pick out, but I received it from a sponsorship and I am so glad I have it. I wear it constantly and it is a great size and real, textured leather.

How to Rock Summer Tops in the Fall featuring Beautyberry Boutique

I live in colorful, flowy, graphic tops in the summertime, but hate retiring them when the leaves start to fall. These tips will help transition your favorite summer pieces into the cooler months!

This post is in collaboration with an awesome new online company based right here in Ohio called Beautyberry Boutique! Shop the fun floral pieces here!

  • LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS. The more the better! Sometimes all it takes is a cute jacket, other times you can throw a long sleeve underneath, a sweater on top, and bundle a scarf, too, to really achieve that cozy look. My neutral duster (similar) is from Anthropology and my leather jacket is from Hollister.

  • Scarves are a great way to tone down colorful pieces or add color to neutral ones. I love investing in patterned, plain, thick, thin, blanket and everything-in-between scarves. I tie them to bags or in my hair as a fun incorporation, too.

  • Almost ANY color can be transitional, don’t be intimidated to wear brights when it’s cold! It’s all about how you wear it.

  • Your bag can make the difference. I stick to smaller, versatile clutches and crossbody bags in the summer and trade them out for large, darker ones in the fall. Both of my bags and my wallet are from SoHo Fashion Exchange.

  • Though distressed jeans are SO cute in the fall, I personally prefer them with cozy sweaters, so I kept my Rag and Bone pair dark and solid and let the top stand out. I love cargo-style pants and army green is so neutral.

  • Booties. Need I say more? Shop some of my favs here.
